A little bit about me!
Thank you for stopping by my tech newsletter! I am happy to have you here. My name is Hayden LaCelle, and I am an incoming college freshman on a path to study Computer Engineering at Washington State University in Pullman, WA!
(Substack doesn’t support wrapping text for images yet — so pretend this image is on the side of these paragraphs.)

From the time I was super little, I was always interested in technology. Granted, I didn’t always know what exactly I was doing, I just knew I wanted to do something with it. Any computer, phone, tablet — really any electronic device around me — I could get my hands on was another thing I loved to tinker with. As I grew older, this curiosity grew into wanting to learn more about how all the technology actually worked, and what made everything go together.
Throughout my K-12 education, I took a variety of computer classes, mainly in high school: Digital Design, AP Computer Science, etc. Anything that involves working with tech, whether it be software. hardware, or both, if I feel it’s the right opportunity, I’ll jump at it. In June 2023, I landed my first job as a computer repair technician for the Lake Stevens School District. Around this time is where I really started to feel where I wanted my career to go. I wanted to do something with computers, especially hardware and the hands-on aspect of it, which is part of the reason I decided to go with a Computer Engineering major. In August 2024, I left my first job and am now working as an IT Technical Assistant for Washington State University, helping students, faculty, and other community members with a different variety of tech problems and questions.
So, what’s this newsletter for?
Like I mentioned above, I always wanted to learn more about the ins and outs of technology. I love to tinker, explore, and enable my curiosity with it. I also happen to like writing, doing research, making content, etc. I made this newsletter because I wanted an opportunity to explore tech in a different way, whether it be trying out new and old tech, researching the impacts of tech in different areas, learning more from interviewing different people, or just doing whatever else there may be and having fun with it.
I also like to share my interests with other people, which is another reason I made this! I, personally, think tech is just fun and interesting. I also know that it has an impact on how we go about our daily lives. I want this to be something that’s interesting, entertaining, and hopefully, (at least a little bit) educational. I want to share this with you because I’m still exploring and learning things in the tech world everyday. I’m also a believer that people learn from each other. So, if you ever have any thoughts on anything I write or publish anywhere, please do not hesitate to leave a comment! I want to hear, and actively encourage you to share, your thoughts and opinions.
How often can you expect content?
I’m putting this section here because, in all honesty, I can’t give a straight answer. Since I will be in college, my content schedule will fluctuate pretty heavily, and as I create and continue to post on this newsletter and my other content channels, the type of content will probably fluctuate from one to another.
While the longer-form content (say: videos, research pieces, etc.) may be more sporadic, I also plan to use other forms of content to continue to interact and explore with you and other members of the audience.
My newsletter has a Substack Chat function — which will allow me to create threads and interact with subscribers live. I can imagine using this during different tech events, but this can change if needs be. I will make an announcement when I do something like this!
Another element of this newsletter is the Notes section — I will post little snippets of different things here. This will probably be my most care-free section (“unfiltered”, if you will.)
Thank you for reading this!
